5 Tips For Winter Vaping

While winter is still a few months away, it is always good to be ahead of the game and be prepared for the colder moments coming. Winter can make any activities a bit harsher to deal with, causing you to crave the heat of summer you were once complaining about just a few months ago. Does the drop in temperature outside affect your vaping experience? It’s something many vapers may not even think about. Here are some tips to consider when winter rolls around to make sure your e-cigs stay up to par and maximize your vaping experience.

1. You may not even give it a second thought while you’re out and about enjoying the wonders of winter, but E-liquid can freeze. While it has a lower freezing point than water, it is still possible. Especially if you live in a part of the world that gets colder than most. Water freezes at 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Propylene Glycol and Vegetable Glycerin, two of the main ingredients in e-juice, freeze at 10 degrees and 2 degrees respectively. That being said, it’s got to be pretty darn cold for vape juice to freeze, depending on VG/PG, nicotine, and flavoring ratios. Though your E-liquid may not freeze into an ice-cube, it will make it thicker and harder on coils, affecting the flavor as well.

   

2. When preparing for winter, we winterize our homes and automobiles, so we also need to think about applying the same attitude when it comes to our vaping devices. Cold weather can affect the life of your batteries, so it’s important to keep them as warm as possible. If you live in a milder area you can get away with simply keeping your batteries in your pocket, away from any change or metal, and preferably in a battery case. Either way, don’t expose your batteries to extreme temperatures.
3. While you are out enjoying all that winter has to offer, it’s important to dress warmly for the occasion. With most mods being made from metal, remember to bring your gloves to keep your hands, and vape from freezing. All though many places are cracking down on vaping indoors, take advantage of vaping inside whenever you can.
4. Vaping can cause dry mouth on its own, despite the weather. Chapped lips are one of the many inconveniences of winter. Staying hydrated while vaping is not only important in the summer, but especially during the winter. Use chapstick to keep your lips from sticking to any metal tips of your devices. Lips and tongues frozen to metal, as with any wet surface, aren’t just something you see in the movies.
